"Sainthood to Godhood - By Praveen Kumar, Ohio, USA"

"Whenever there is a decay of Dharma (righteousness) and an ascendancy of unrighteousness, I manifest Myself; and for the protection of the virtuous, the destruction of the vicious and for the establishment of righteousness, I manifest Myself in age after age".
- Lord Sri Krishna

It is but natural for man to seek God..

As we all know, four things are common to all the creatures, viz. food, sleep, fear and sexual union. In the case of man, he is endowed with a special faculty, viz. knowledge, with the help of which he can attain God-vision, which is impossible in any other birth.

The life of a saint is as wide and deep as the infinite ocean; and man can dive deep into the life of a saint and take out precious gems (of knowledge and Bhakti).

Lord or Bhagwan is said to have six qualities, viz. (1) Fame, (2) Wealth, (3) Non-attachment, (4) Knowledge, (5) Grandeur, and (6) Generosity. Baba had all these in Him. But Baba was never affected by the Fame or Wealth nor did he boast of the mastery over the Knowledege.

From Sainthood to Godhood requires humility and who better than Baba would be more humble when he told these words..... "Slave of slaves I am your debtor, I am satisfied at your darshan. It is a great favour that I saw your feet. I am an insect in your excreta. I consider Myself blessed thereby".

Also He daily visited certain houses and went from door to door begging for food..Begging for food does not mean humiliation but then it means that arrogance, pride and egoism would be killed.. Could any-of-us go begging for getting rid of our pride, ego etc...?

Also,in this world of Religious conflicts,Catse distinction, racisim etc..Sainthood to Godhood requires being neutral and emphasising on secularism and the theme of oneness.. Baba himself contradicts to stay neutral. If we say that He was a Musalman, His ears were pierced (i.e. had holes according to Hindu fashion). If you think that He was a Hindu, He advocated the practice of circumcision.

The mere fact that he is accepted by people from all religion shows Baba's elevation from Sainthood to Godhood....

But how does man elevate someone to the level of Godhood....

Man is always a dependent creature and in the process of Living begins to wonder on the difficult part of life (i.e) Visualisation of who is himself... It is very difficult for man to control or master his senses and anyone who controls this and demonstrates this wins his confidence and faith...

Baba conquered this Samsar (worldly existence),Peace or mental calm was His ornament, and He was the repository of wisdom. He was the home of Vaishnava devotees, most liberal (like Karna) amongst liberals, the quint-essence of all essences.
He felt no pleasure in the things of this world or of the world beyond. His Antarang (heart) was as clear as a mirror, and His speech always rained nectar. The rich or poor people were the same to Him. He did not know or care for honour or dishonour. He was the Lord of all beings. He spoke freely and mixed with all people.

Godhood requires as i said far more capabilities than mere human abilities.
In the case of Sai Baba, if a devotee really longed to offer anything to Sai Baba, and if he afterwards forgot to offer the same, Baba reminded him, or his friend about the offering, and made him present it to Him, and then accepted it and blessed the devotee.

And when Baba tells us these true words....really he is 'antaryami' " Be wherever you like, do whatever you choose, remember this well that all what you do is known to Me. I am the Inner Ruler of all and seated in their hearts. I envelope all the creatures, the movable and immovable world. I am the Controller - the wire-puller of the show of this Universe."

Lastly, from Sainthood to Godhood requires that the message of the Saint(Sai Baba) is well kept in the hearts of the devotees and passed onto others rather from dying with the end of the Saint.. Even after 80 yrs of Baba's passing away we see that his life and teachings are being read by thousands of devotees proves that he has certainly achieved the Godhood...

All the above inferences are drawn from Sai Satcharita since that being my source about Sri Sai Baba and until now have not had any personalexperiences from which i can infer...
