![]() "Ruso mama priyambika, The ancient Hindu scriptures proclaim that of all the means to realize God, the path of devotion or Bhakthi Maarga is the most suitable for modern times. Although this can be interpreted in several ways depending on one's religious views, the abstract of the content seem to transcend the boundaries of religion. Gaining knowledge by reading scriptures might make one a scholar, or learned. However, it does confer one a sense of "learnedness", a form of ego. On the other hand, Bhakthi Maarga or the path of devotion commences with the acceptance of the superior nature of God and proceeds with the single-minded goal of realizing that God pervades everything. This is accomplished by constant contemplation, known as Saadhana or an intense pursuit. This simple path to the spiritual awareness is quite common to most of the religions, with their own variations. It is accepted that one need to have the guidance of Guru in their spiritual pursuits. During this intense pursuit, one becomes very aware of the importance of self-surrender. Self-surrender to Guru is believed to benefit the seeker in his pursuit of self-realization, thereby achieving the purpose a life may have. Self-surrender may not be a passive resignation that arises out of inability to deal with one's duties and responsibilities.
Saburi is the word repeatedly told by Baba. Saburi means Forbearance. It is the attitude that makes one to cross the ocean of life safely. The literal meaning of the word is acceptance of everything that happens in our lives with a cheerful nature. The other way to explain this is, to wait patiently for the good days to come and at the same time doing our best in the present. Practically speaking, we accept the events cheerfully only if they create a sense of happiness and security to us. If there is any threat to our security or happiness, we feel very much scared about it. Then what does it mean? Does it mean that we lack Saburi! This question troubles the minds of lot of us. Actually, the paradox is, this question is the beginning of Saburi in us! It opens the new frontiers of intellect in us. We will start to realize our potential in practicing the Saburi. Tsunami in the Indian Ocean is the very recent devastation that was a heart breaking news to all of us. It made some of us to question the logic of life associated with it! Even though, we were crippled by it, slowly we started making the recovery. Saburi makes us to stand the tests of life without losing our heart. In Sai Satcharitha Sri Hemadpant writes, " What trying times are ahead, we know not, nor what forces will be at work. For all this is Allamiya's sport! And his loving devotees are but spectators in it." For lot of situations in the worldly life the intellect cannot offer satisfying answers. For lot of things in life the causes cannot be readily accessible. Believing in the Guru (Shraddha) and acceptance of what life gives without much grumbling helps us to progress on spiritual path. Saburi is the patience needed for our spiritual practice. As long as we live, there are always lessons to learn in life. Saburi helps us to know our resistance in learning particular lessons in life. In other words, Saburi teaches us we cannot always control the changing situations in life. It teaches us to do our best and leave the rest in the hands of God. Some times, the problems seem unending and we become frustrated with life. Often we stand at life's crossroads and think what we view is an end, but God has much bigger vision and says it is only a bend. In the words of Sri Ramakrishna, the child is safe as long as it holds on to the pole, while it is playing round and round in the pole festival. Like wise, we are also safe as long as we hold on to the lotus feet of God in this roller-coaster ride of life. Developing Saburi is necessary, if one wants to walk on the spiritual path. Saburi forces us to transcend the physical reality and asks us to have faith (Shraddha) in the higher force above us. It also shows the limitations of human intellect. Sri Sai Baba always used to repeat the importance of the Shraddha and Saburi to his devotees. In this present testing times, they are necessary for all the spiritual aspirants. Shraddha and Saburi are the two sides of the same coin. Both are complimentary to each other. They are divine qualities. Sri Sai demonstrated all these qualities with his immeasurable love for us (Source: Sai Vichaar Team)
Sai devotee P I had been suffering for past several months from a strange kind of infection. Since I live in a small town in India where almost everybody knows each other and where nobody leaves a single opportunity to judge the others, I was unable to bring myself to visit a doctor. So when I surfed the Internet to assess my problem, I realized that it was something serious and quite a number of medical sites had advised people with such symptoms to consult a doctor on priority. I was shaken. I couldn't sleep the whole night after reading this and kept worrying more about my family than me. Next day, I had an early morning bath and immediately took a pinch of udi, meditated on Baba and prayed to Baba fervently to cure this illness. Then I mixed the udi with water and consumed it and also applied a little to the forehead. Within a couple of hours, the symptoms reduced and within the next 2 days I was cured 98%. Now I am taking the udi while praying and hope that I will be completely cured soon. This is nothing short of a miracle for me. My Baba is the greatest doctor in this whole world. See how skillfully He opened my eyes to the greatness of udi once again. Shree Satchidanand Sadguru Sainath Maharaj Ki Jai Dusi Ranga Lata Manish Manjula Manju Chrompet Sumathi Quotation of
