Sai Vichaar requests the devotees to continue to submit to Sai Vichaar using the pages intended for various sections of Sai Vichaar. Sai Vichaar gratefully appreciates the patience of its readers during the past few weeks of revamping of our database. A Sai devotee suggested the The "Question of the week" for this week as,,

Q.How does a Sai devotee stay grounded amidst the swell of spiritual ego?

Feature of the week: Tujha waanchuni aashraya naahi bhutalee

Shree sadguru Baabaa Sayee
Shree sadguru Baabaa Sayee
Tujha waanchuni aashraya naahi bhutalee

Sri Sadguru Sai Baba, where else shall I take refuge on the face of the earth except in You!

Sai devotees cherish singing of the above verse from kakad arathi. The emotional outburst of the destitute is nicely captured in the words of Shri Krishna Jogiswar Bhishma, the author of the above verse and similar such verses in Sri Sai arathis. However, the irony is when we see "Sai devotees' letting go of the above sentiment as quickly as they come in while singing them and run to every direction in search of solace, appeasing everyone and bowing to every feet. How pathetic would be the situation when one forsakes his own father and forgets that there is no need to go anywhere?

Confidence is the cardinal sign of faith in Sadguru and having faith in Baba "no matter what" is the hallmark of a true Sai devotee. When Baba is there to provide even unasked, where is the need to hunt the whole world and soothe all and sundry?

Let this be a day in contemplation of the fact that Sri Sai is the sole provider for a Sai devotee and to Him is offered all pleas and none else.

Oh Sainath, we, lowly folk, are miserably drowned in this ocean of samsara and gasping with fear and frustration!

Contributed Article: TEN REASONS WHY ONE SHOULD WORSHIP SAI BABA OF SHIRDI

1) First and foremost because, in the: words of Hemadpant the author of Shri Sai Satcharita, He has taken a vow to give you what you want.

2) And that too immediately "cash down". You ask with sincere devotion (shradhha) and patience (Saboori) and there is the result.

3) He is so easily pleased. No hard penance, no unbearable fasts, not even difficult concentration and control of senses. In his own words, "You look to ME and I look to you". Can there be anything simpler than this?

4) He has left His mortal body 86 years ago and even today thousands of devotees have experienced His presence, halving met their demands. What more guarantee is required?

5) Not being bodily present as a human being today, there is no danger of being cheated in His worship. In case of so many Avatars, Bhagwans and Yogi's cropped up at present in the country, one is not sure if one is following the real preceptor (Sadguru).

6) No money is required to worship Baba. He is pleased even with flowers, fruits, leaves or even water devotionally offered. You do not have to spend for -traveling up to Shirdi also, He is available even from where you are-'even beyond seven seas'.

7) Ashes (Udi) from the fire burning eternally in His Dwarkamai is the cheapest and most infallible medicine of all diseases. The cost is only two paisa-faith and patience.

8) His life history written by Hemadpant contains all the wisdom of Vedas, Upanishadas and Geeta in the form of simple stories and anecdotes. Reading them alone and following the advice therein, one can reach the goal of liberation without fail.

9) Repetition of His name SAI so short, so sweet and so easy to pronounce No twisting of tongue and no difficult accents.

10) Last but not the least, He, on fulfilling your demands in this world, ensures that you do not get caught in the dangerous network of this 'Sansar'. Slowly He moulds you, guides you and takes you step by step to liberation (Moksha) which is the key to eternal and everlasting bliss.

Experiences of Devotees:

Ritu
Baba I am posting late and I am sorry about that. I want to share this experience with all Sai devotees. Baba's kripa is incredible. As I posted before that couple of years back, my brother had gone through a brain surgery for tumor and with Baba's grace, everything went well. But couple of months back again he got a tumor and gone through another surgery. At that time, we all were scared that what will happen now, he has little kids too. After surgery doctor has told us that it could affect to any part of his body, either speech or movement of legs. All night I did not sleep and cried in front of Baba. I prayed him to help him recover and nothing wrong would happen to him. I am miles away from him and my parents were so nervous at that crucial movement. Everyone was worried and continuously praying. I also requested Baba all night and miracles of miracle he listened to everyone prayers and my brother is all right. He took time to recover and his body is also weak but by Baba's blessing, he is normal. Sai can make impossible possible. Once you pray with full faith and surrender yourself to him, I am sure he listens to everyone.

Devotees say...

Rakhi
I, my husband and 3and half year old son are living in Sweden...My husband was doing job in denmark at that time...That was the christmas time here and my husband told me not to come in home on that time because of big office party. The bad night arrives...I was cutting vegetables ..suddenly my husband came with sad face and he told that his job is left...I started crying but he and my son had keeping patience and then struggle starts...My husband had tried everywhere but not getting success in finding job. I was praying helplessly. Baba had shakti to make bhakts happy...and after 2 and half months, Sai Baba makes possible to get job in the company, which my husband left. Few months back to work in Denmark. Just impossible because the people do not want to take him back.

Ashwani Kumar
I am a Sai devotee and firmly believe that Baba is always around us and is taking care of us at all the times. Recently I had an experience, which I would like to share with all. I was sleeping and my wife had to prepare milk for our young son who is only 7 months old. To do so she picked up the bowl full of hot water and unfortunately that slipped from her hand and fell straight on my back head , hand , back of ear and shoulder. I started shouting because of pain and it was burning so much that I could not bear. At that moment, my wife just pulled out the pouch where we keep Baba's bhabuti and she just sprinkled the same on my head and hand. She did not know that the water had also spilled on the shoulder and behind the ear as well. We all were praying to Baba to save us from major injury. Went to the doctor and took the initial medication that night. Next day when we went to the doctor again we were surprised to see that there was not a single boil on the head and the hand but the place where we did not apply Baba's bhabuti the boils was developed. Even the doctor was surprised to see that at the head where the majority of water had fallen there was absolutely nothing. It is only due to Baba's blessings I was saved. I am really very thankful to Baba for all the blessings and being with us at all the times and saving us from mis-happenings. Jai Sai Ram

Quotation of the Week:
"Oh Sai, create in us regard for Your stories. Let the readers and audience devour them with the same relish with which the chatak bird drinks the water from the clouds and becomes happy. While listening to Your stories, let them and their families get all the sattwik emotions, viz. let their bodies perspire, let their eyes be full of tears, let their prana be steady, let their minds be composed, let their hair stand on end, let them cry, sob and shake, let their hostilities and their distinctions, great and small vanish. If these things happen, that is a sign of the grace of the Guru dawning upon them" - Sri Sai Satcharita

Question of the Week:

Q. How does a Sai devotee stay grounded amidst the swell of spiritual ego?

A. by Kiranmai

There is no such thing as 'spiritual ego' - Mind is above ego. Mind is the one that receives spiritual insights. One needs to have implicit trust in Guru- the preceptor that He knows best on who experiences His Glory. Having faith and practicing humility that He knows best is the right way to go.

Baba also mentioned this numerous times that He decides on qualifications and it is very clearly described in Sat Charitra when a man of his material wealth asks for Brahman knowledge.
