![]() You will never be able to understand thoroughly how great Sai Baba is. He is the very personification of perfection. If you know Him as I know Him, you would call Him the Master of Creation" - Meher Baba (1894 - 1969) Meher Baba said that when a sincere and patient seeker of Truth comes into contact with one who is spiritually perfect, he would observe certain outer signs that are inseparably associated with inner spiritual perfection. The most important of these signs are three: firstly, Perfection is not only "Oneness with God," but also the continual and uninterrupted experience of "Oneness in everything." A Perfect Master continually, without break, experiences and realizes his own Self as the Self in all. This inner experience objectively manifests itself in the spontaneity of love that such a one feels or expresses towards all Creation. To him nothing is attractive or repulsive. Good and bad, saint and sinner, beauty and ugliness, wisdom and idiocy, health and disease -- all are modes of his own manifestation. When embodied Perfection loves, fondles or feeds any living creature, it feels and enjoys as if it were loving, fondling and feeding its own Self. In this stage no vestige of "otherness" is left. The second sign is the atmosphere of bliss that Perfection radiates in its immediate vicinity, an atmosphere that a stranger in search of it cannot help feeling. A Perfect Master not only enjoys infinite bliss but also experiences universal suffering. The acuteness of suffering however is nullified or subdued by the overwhelming feeling of bliss. Hence Perfection can outwardly appear blissfully calm in the face of every kind of suffering and persecution. The third sign of Perfection is its power to adapt itself to any level of humanity. It can be as nonchalant on a throne as in a gutter. It can very naturally be thrifty with the poor, extravagant with the rich, regal with kings, wise with the learned and simple with the illiterate and the ignorant. Just as a Maser of Letters teaches English in different ways to beginners and graduate students, so also a Perfect Master adapts himself to the level of those whom he wants to uplift spiritually. Sadguru Sainath is the foremost of the Perfect Masters Meher Baba resorted to during his quest to seek realization. Meher Baba, a great Yogi himself, felt that if one knows Sainath as he had known him, he/she would accept Him to be the Master of the Creation. Sainath of Shirdi is the rarest of such Perfect Masters who is perfect in and out. (Contributed by Sai Vichaar ) Contributed
Article: Professor G.G. Narke Shri G.G.Narke is the son-in-law of Sriman Gopalrao Booty, the blessed devotee of Sainath responsible for the construction of present Samadhi Mandir. Shri Narasimha swamy interviewed him on 10,20,25, and 28 May 1936. Before giving the details of interview, Shri Narasimhaswamiji, mentions the following: "Sai Maharaj used to say that devotee who shows patience and respect during difficulties makes him happy, rather than the person who shows peace when one has wealth and happiness. Devotee should not lose peace when another says harsh and abusing words. If my devotee is not successful in worldly affairs, those problems make a path to reach me. Man gets easily upset for minute problems. He does not understand that God sends these difficulties to give him ultimate good. You have to face all problems with peaceful mind. One must bear them with patience. Never allow words that will offend another to gush out of your mouth. By my grace, practice and vairagya, you will be happy even with those problems. If you have faith in Me and pray to Me with patience. I am at all times ready to help you. If you take shelter under me, it is my duty to take you on the right path. This is what Sai Maharaj said and assured us. Shri B.V.N. further states the following:- As Saibaba belongs to Kabir panth; there are similarities, between Sai 's precepts and Kabir's voice. Kabir said that experience of GOD, by each saint is as per their own personal experience and understanding, but definitely they enjoy perfect bliss beyond mind's orbit. As a person who cannot speak enjoys taste of a sweet, though unable to express it to others, similarly, a self realized soul enjoys the grace and bliss of God though he cannot convey the experience in words. "Jinne paya vunne chupaya" , (spoken by Kabir) means the same. As the sacred rivers like Ganga cool the earth and all living beings, gives life by making the earth full of greenery and fruit, in this blessed land of India great saints like SAMARTHA SADGURU SAI BABA were born. These self realized mahatmas bestow peace and happiness to their devotees. In Bhagavatam, the following passage can be found:-GOD says that the hearts of saints is mine, I am the heart of the saints. In the entire world I know the saints and saints know what I am and all about me. So Sadhu is God and God takes avatar in the form of sadhus. Mahakavi Thulasidas compared sadhu purushas with a good mango tree. Even when stones are thrown at this tree, it goes on giving very sweet fruits. Similarly sadhu satpurushas bestow their blessings even to harmful creatures and thus create loka kalyana to the whole world. From then to now, Saibaba is catching human sparrows in a net and making them enter into the right and blissful path of God. The devotees of Baba, by their own experience realized the omniscient nature of Shri Baba and enjoyed the bliss of that grace of Baba. No other person bestowed such bliss and grace. Prof. Narke personally visited Baba, talked to him and had received the gift spiritual bliss as blessed fruit from Baba. With Baba's blessings, he became one of the trustees of samadhi and became thus blessed. Prof. Narke used to worship Sri Sai Baba along with other deities in his house. He felt that Baba is God himself for the various experiences he had though he appeared to be a satpurusha. Narke was son in law of rich and lucky Gopalarao Booty. Narke, his mother and wife used to worship Baba as God. Narke became an MA in 1905 at Calcutta. In 1909 he went to Manchester in England on state scholarship and obtained M.Sc. degree in mining and geology in 1912 and came back to India. Narke's mother and wife along with Booty used to stay in Shirdi. Booty used to write letters to narrate to come to Shirdi and take darshan of Baba. Narke used to say that if Baba writes to him directing to take darshan, he would come. Booty prayed Baba to thus direct and on Baba consenting, he wrote letter to Narke. Narke reached Shirdi for the first time in 1913.Baba used to be very close and friendly with Narke's family. Narke's mother used to have great Bhakthi towards Baba. Baba used to have great karuna towards her. Shim took Narke to Baba and made him have darshan and introduced him. Baba said- Are you introducing him to me? I know him for the last thirty lives. Narke could not escape the attraction of BABA'S POWERFUL EYES. Baba's picture in chavadi settled itself permanently in Narke's heart. One day Baba at the time of harathi got very angry and shouted with very big voice. There were hundreds of devotees. Narke did not know the cause and thought that may be Baba was mad. In the evening when Narke was massaging Baba's legs, Baba by rubbing his head with love, said-No, I am not mad. Narke realizing that Baba knew the thoughts in his mind and that Baba is really his Hrudaya vasi and that he is really God in his own heart. Having had various experiences and testing him, Narke concluded that Baba is the Vasudeva in his heart and in the heart of all. He realized that Baba makes every thing work according to his sankalpa. HE also realized that Baba knew the past, present and the future. (Contributed by Havovi Medora: Source: SV Vol 11:50)
A Sai Devotee I wanted to post an experience I had last Saturday. It's a very small incident but it shows that Sai is always around us. I had to go to office for some work on that Saturday, and skipped breakfast in my rush to get to office. After reaching office also, I thought that I'd directly eat something at lunch to save time. But at lunchtime I found that the sandwich counter (which is the only eatery we have at office on weekends) was closed for some reason. Our office is located in a remote area, and there are no nearby eateries where one could go. So I was in a quandary, since I was already feeling very hungry and had several more hours of work to get completed before I could leave office for the day. The only option left was to order from a very expensive restaurant located nearby. I hadn't wanted to do that, since I really didn't want to spend that much on lunch (esp since I am going through some money crunch and need to be really careful about my spending). But having no other option I called up the restaurant and ordered a couple of parathas and some subzi. For every small or big thing of my life, I always keep bugging my Sai, so now also I was praying to Sai in my mind that it is an expensive restaurant, but please let the bill amount not be greater than 100/-, since I really cant afford to spend any more than that. But when I asked the manager about the bill amount. He said that it was 220/- that too minus service tax! I'm ashamed to say now that immediately on hearing this, a thought came in my mind that Sai let me down. But I tried not to think any more about it and just gave the order and kept the phone down. But now see the wonder - just around 5 min after this, the manager rang up to say that the subzi that I wanted was not available that day, and asked me to order something else. When I didn't like any of the other choices and was wondering how I would eat just the paranthas, he said that the parathas would be served with a bowl of curd, which was free with the paranthas. And the order amount for the paranthas alone was just Rs 80/-! And true to his word, when the food was delivered I found that the subzi would indeed have been a waste of money, since the curd alone was more than sufficient for one person! It is unusual that a restaurant manager takes the order first and then later calls up to say that the item is not available, and then himself suggests that the order could be cut down. I'm fully aware that this just happened because of Sai Baba who heard my prayer. As to why He immediately acted on such a small insignificant prayer (when sometimes much bigger prayers than this take time to be answered), well, what I felt was that it is the level of faith with which the prayer is made that makes the difference. I'd had full faith that Sai would listen to my request, so I didn't even think it was possible that it would not be heeded. So, when the manager quoted a big amount and I questioned Sai about why that happened, He was quick as ever to keep up my faith in Him.
