We are about six weeks away from Vijayadasami day, the day Sadguru Sainath left His mortal coil eighty years ago. Sai centers are requested to forward to us their program of events scheduled on the occasion of Mahasamadhi for publication in the forthcoming issues of Sai Vichaar Sai Vichaar thanks all the readers for their patronage and continued support. The purpose of this platform is to sing the glory of Sadguru Sainath and provide a medium for spreading of His teachings and philosophy. Incidentally, Manish Saxena from India wrote to us about his experiences (see devotees say...) and raised a few questions that we thought might be of interest to all of us. Why is that our prayers are not answered all the time? In the present issue, we are featuring a Sai devotee’s perspective of death and its significance (see Feature of the week). It is our humble attempt by His grace to dwell on this topic. In this connection, Sai Vichaar invites write-ups on this subject and we hope devotees would share their experiences and enlighten everyone. Please forward your experiences to the website administrator. Include "for Sai Vichaar" in the subject area if you are sending us by electronic mail. We have received enquiries from several readers on the essay topics in the categoris I and II. We hope we have answered them by including a short explanation on the topics. Please feel free to write to us if you have more questions. We once again request devotees to participate in the essay writing activity by contributing as well as voting. Humbly yours, The Editor Disclaimer Sai Vichaar is devoted to the philosophy and teachings of Shri Sadguru Sai Baba of Shirdi, and will take every measure to avoid topics or themes contradicting the same. Feature of the week:Bereavement It was a grim situation. Tatya Kote fell at the feet of Sainath and urged Him to revive Bayaja maa, his mother. Bayajabai, herself a devout devotee of Sainath, was on the deathbed waiting for the last word from the God she had known. How could God convince a grieving devotee who wants his mother to be alive? How can a guru explain his follower the irreversible course of nature? The temporariness of body, and the everlasting attribute of atman? Sainath lovingly coaxes Tatya and assures him that He would rejuvenate Bayajabai from death provided Tatya showed him one single household on earth, where there is no death! Is this possible? Cycle of events in human life seem to follow a predestined path that is hard to understand. Death seems to be one such event that reminds the mundane material man, the temporary nature of the human body and its attributes. The duty of Guru is to lead the disciple in the right path, in life and death. Sainath’s guidance in this matter is quite clear. He has always guided the faithful in the right direction. A close examination of His message would reinforce the same thought. Several incidents depict the way Sainath helped His devotees by averting what could be termed as, a certain death. In some cases, He has blessed His children by providing a righteous demise, the examples of Megha, Vijayanand, Balaram Mankar and the Tiger to name a few (vide Chapter XXXI, Sai Satcharitha). Sainath Himself is believed to have given His physical body to protect ailing Ramachandra Patil, another devotee who was on the deathbed during the fateful Vijayadashami day in 1918. The question that why one should die may not be as important as how one should live or what is to be accomplished by human life or death. For one who believes in Saibaba, the "thrikaala gnaani" (one who is aware of the past, present, and the future), the fear of death should never be a matter of concern because His guidance will remove one’s fear of life. Why does one want to fear death when he is not afraid of the life, the more dreaded karmic cobweb capable of multitude of myth and deceit; the tigers and wolves that Sainath referred to? Finally, what does one achieve from a Guru who fulfils small desires but appears to let the disciple suffer by not coming to rescue at times of larger calamities? The wisdom! The realization that the karmic cycle of joy and sorrow is superceded by bhakthi (devotion) and saadhana (perseverance).
Sairam Hello friends/Sri Shirdi Sai's web site viewers, the following is very interesting and it really happened to me this day the 12th Aug 1998. I am working as a software consultant here in Australia since April this year. My wife joined from India. An interesting incident took place during her travel. She was travelling along with our son and met one girl also travelling in the same flight. They booked one bag each from Singapore to Sydney and on arriving here we enquired for the bag and the airport authorities told it will take a day to get them and asked for the address to deliver the bags. Unfortunately, my wife's and the other girl's baggage receipts were mixed up and no one could identify which was whose. The other girl told that she got very important and everyday used items and given her address to deliver the baggage as my wife and I were agreed for that. She told she would be calling us when she receives the bags. Unfortunately, we do not have a clue to contact her but she got our address and telephone number. Until yesterday, we did not hear anything from her and thought she might lost our details. We tried through many different ways to contact her and failed to do so. Yesterday night my wife told me that she was supposed to perform 101Pradakshinams in Saibaba temple in India and failed to do so before she came here and may be thats why all this happened. Immediately we prayed Lord Saibaba to show a way to get the bag for which we both together perform 101 pradakshinams after we are back to India. That bag has some valuable things and my wife was worried a lot for almost loosing it. I told if it were ours, we would get it. Very very surprisingly she heard from that girl's husband today (the very nextday) morning that they have the bag and asked her to come and collect. Its a real wonder and I really admired to be a real spectator of his Leelas. We both are devotees of Lord Sri Shirdi Saibaba, we believe in him very strongly, and our belief doubled with this incident. We are going to Shirdi when we go back to India and perform 101Pradakshinams in our local Sai temple. He is the real KALIYUGA PARAMATMA saint came from heaven to look after all his devotees. We are proud to tell that we are DEVOTEES of Lord Sri Shirdi Saibaba. I thank Sri Shirdi Sai website organizers to let me share this with you all and look forward to see more later on the same wonderful Sai's site. Thank you very much Satish Babu Matukumalli, Australia Baba appeared to a non-devotee Peace be with you all. I would like to share this experience with all Sai Devotees. I am a devotee of Sai Baba since birth. I often conduct prayer meetings at my home. One of the attendees, a Roman Catholic woman asked me who is that Baba with a crown. I have Sai's picture with the saffron cloth, tied to his head so I could not understand at that time that she was talking about. After 2 weeks, I received a picture of Baba with a crown(from Shridi). I left it on my altar. That same woman came visiting me again, saw the picture of Baba and said "This is the same crown I saw in my vision" I knew for a fact that Baba had visited her, here in Kuwait. Amazing isn't it. I would like to tell you certain incidents I have experienced with shri Sai Baba. 1. I was working in an organization, which was a society and was dealing in conferences and exhibitions. I worked for around two years. I was working with full devotion towards my duties there. The management wanted to push some other gentlemen in that organization so they started harassing me and one fine morning they bought the new gentleman in my place and gave me a memo stating that I have been misappropriating society funds and have been using the office as my business place. Since I had not done any of these offences, I was very shocked to hear about this. since I wanted to remain in the job I just admitted the offences and asked for an excuse. The management thought that their purpose was solved and they further tried to harass me by calling the police. I then had no choice but to be on offensive. I just remembered Baba and just told him the truth. I went to the court and to my surprise hearing after hearing the management was just defeated on all grounds and to my surprise as usual any case takes 7yrs minimum to be solved but by Baba's grace it has just finished in 2yrs time with all decisions ex-party and now the management will have to pay me my salary for 2yrs with interest and my damages for 2yrs and ofcourse my job and my image. They had tried all their powers with their money but could not nullify Baba's powers on all occasions. I am really indebted to Baba. 2. During these 2 yrs I was thinking what to do since I had not enough money with me to start my business at least to open my account I needed Rs.5000+. I again asked Baba for help and again to my surprise one fine morning a client of mine needed some chemicals he himself offered me an advance draft of Rs. 5600/- and asked me to supply . that was exactly what I needed for my business to start. I again thank Baba for all he has done for me. 3. But I would like to ask one question. My father was a great follower of Baba. He was a doctor. last year he got some trouble in his eyes and when he went to the hospital, he found out that he had glaucoma. he was very depressed, then day after day his eyes got worse and ultimately had developed retinal detachment. He prayed to Sai the whole house prayed for his betterment but of no relief until one fine day, we met an eye specialist of repute in the country and he assured to bring my fathers eyesight back. my father was operated time and again and he was getting better and better day by day . When ultimately his eyes were to be operated for taking out the silicon oil which was put for his retinal problem he expired a week back. I along with my mother and sister were praying to Baba for his recovery but of no relief, we could not save our father. I would like to ask that when everything is fated for us and nothing happens before time, whatever one may do then why one should ask god for relief when he wants us to suffer due to our past deeds. why we are resting our hopes in him when he cannot fulfill them. money part I understand he can do small small wonders he can do but the big ones he leaves to his devotee to suffer. WHY AT ALL ALL THIS FALSE HOPE. Manish Saxena, India Sai Vichaar Team
