Devotee Raveendra Boggaram wrote to us, "Could you please tell me the exact significance of "Kaakada Haarati" that will be performed to Baba/Lord Dattatreya avatar as well as the meaning of the word. Why is this haarati called as "Kaakada Haarati"?. We all know that the rituals and worship procedures of Sadguru Sainath have evolved from various procedures over the years into present day form. Devotees of other faith see Sai Baba in their perspective, leading to one ultimate truth that one receives Sainath, the Muslim Vishnu, the way he wants it. Hindu devotees who regard Sai Baba as an incarnation of Sri Dattatreya, the Trinity, have based their worship procedures on their belief that Sai is Dattavatara. It is also common to see Sai worshipped as Shiva and the rituals followed in this case are adapted from the worship of Lord Shiva. We can also notice several variations in the worship of Sadguru Sainath at deities across India and abroad. However, it is informative and interesting to know the basis behind Sai rituals especially, four Aarathis (a Hindu ritual of camphor/wick lit and offered to the Deity, accompanied by a prayer usually sung by devotees). These four Aarathis are performed to Lord Sainath in Shirdi and other Sai temples. Let us know more about these procedures.

The Question of the week for this week is,

"What is the significance of Kakada Aarathi" performed to Sadguru Sainath?

Humbly yours,

The Editor

Feature of the week: Unseen miracles!

Behind every prayer and parayan (reading of holy books) there lies a desire, the quest for a miracle. Nice are those experiences where the seeker gets what he desires. It is the experiences of several devotees to receive the good news, from seemingly no where, beyond the logic, at the end of a sincere prayer. What of those who do not see the light at the end of the tunnel? Did Sai not hear them? Are those prayers not sincere?

A prayer is always sincere. The mere thought of surrendering our ego, even for a moment, at the feet of Sadguru and invoking His grace to the betterment of our existence is a significant step. However, not being able to receive the expected or wanted may not construe as a failure. Sai spoke about this in Sri Sai Satcharitha. Why do not all the flowers blossom?

Karmic role in our lives aside, it does help one to know why the prayers aren’t answered always. Why is that Sai withholds His miracles, seemingly to a few "unfortunate" ones? A careful analysis may help our little minds to some extent. Next time, if our prayers are unanswered, let us remember those occasions carefully and move on. Let our faith be doubled and let our love to Sainath is unchanged. It will be revealed later, that the prayers that were "unanswered" were a part of a much bigger plan. It will be known that, what happened is in our best interests. It will also be known that it may not be a dealing between Sai and the self, but a part of a grander revelation. "Seek my treasure. My coffers are open", said Sai. The best miracles are the ones that are unseen.

Experiences of Devotees

Pooja Walia
This is one of the incidents, which I want to share with you. I was working with a multinational company and was staying alone in New Delhi, India, away from my home. Suddenly due to certain circumstances, I resigned from my job and I had no job in my hand at that time. I trusted in Saibaba I stayed very cool. Gradually I had no money left and had I had to pay my house rent. I just trusted in Sai Baba and left everything on him and I knew he is going to look after me. I gave a post dated cheque to my land lady thinking that in the mean time I could arrange for money .I was depressed but deep in my heart I had a feeling that he is going do everything fine. My landlady presented the cheque in the bank on the mentioned date and I just didn't know what to do. Three days passed and I was very scared that my cheque is going to bounce and my landlady will create a problem for me. Four days passed nothing happened. I went to her and asked her that whether she has presented the cheque or not. She said that she ! has and it is cleared also. I was shocked to hear that. I checked it out with my bank and they told me that they have not received any cheque. I again enquired with my landlady and asked her to cheque it with her bank once again. She again checked and told me that the money has been credited to her account. I knew its Saibaba who has saved me. Till date u have no clue of it that how it happened .I prayed to him and in a weeks time I got another job with a big multinational company where I am earning very well. Everytime when I was in a difficulty he has some or the other way saved me. I have no words to describe how it feels to have his hand on you.. It’s just the faith in him which always help his devotees. Om Shri Sai Ram. May almighty Saibaba bless everyone.

Prasad Venkat, Abu Dhabi, UAE
I want to share the Miracle with all the Sai Devotees. I am from Abu Dhabi. In the month of October, I have to go for my vacation to India. For this, I have to get my passport renewed, as it was to expire on15th of this month. When I went to renew the passport the Indian Embassy required my maiden passport. I never knew where it is, as it was very old. I searched here in Abu Dhabi but couldn't find the same. I called my parents who are in Madras and asked them to search for it. They also didn't get it. We have a house in New Delhi, so I requested my Dad to go to Delhi to find whether it is available there. Meanwhile I received a message to read the Sat Charithra within a day. I took the book to my office and found difficult to read it in the office. After office, hours came home and finished the house hold work and managed to complete the book in time. My dad left all his work and went to Delhi to find the passport. He searched in all the rooms but was not able to find it. Finally he said only Sai Ram has to help in this case and entered the Puja room. There he found a small box and when he opened to his surprise found the passport on the top. It was exactly one week after I finished the book my mummy called from Madras that Dad had found the old passport in Delhi. It’s really a great miracle and Sai again proves that he helps the devotees who really believe and surrender to him.

Devotees say...

Saraswathi Sarvamangala
I am reading Sai Vichaar from last three months. It is so good to read and get to be more closer to Sairam. He is great, all our problems are solved by his blessings. We became his devotee from 1994, but heard a lot from our childhood. Now, we are very close to him and we talk to him and proceed in our work.
So, whenever, we read Sai Vichaar, we get so much pleasure, happiness, peace of mind. There are so many miracles which has happened in our daily life. By reading Sai Vichaar, Sai Satcharitha and anything about Baba, it gives how to be faithful and have the patience to live in this world. His stories and miracles are very good to read. As said by Hempandpant, going through Guru, one will always reach the God. Our Sai is more than a God, as there is no words to praise him. Sai Vichaar is good subscription, to know about Sai, learn how to live, pray for others, which is very important.

I have a small question. Kindly send an answer to this. I believe in GOD. If a person says he does not believe in GOD, should I try to convince him/her or just let them keep their opinion?

Aymee Minaya
Blessings to Everyone. Alphonzo , you are correct, and this is exactly the way I feel. I wouldn't want to belong to an institution where I am being imposed to do things. Is all about having faith. Doing it from your heart, with love. Some religions said the world is going to end in the year 2000 and that only those that belong to certain religions will be saved. I don't think this is true. Fighting amongst each other for worldly things that are of no value to our lord. He does not see us by the clothes we wear, or the perfume, or the grade in education that we have achieved. It is the pureness in our hearts. I ask everyone to continue their prayers for Lilliana, Argentina, and for all of us as the family we are. We must realize that this site grows more and more every day, The family is growing, and like a mother that takes care of her children our Sai Baba is blessing this site every day, so we are his children. Spread the word, help the ones in need. Maybe those who live in the United States area can collect money and send it to an institution in need as there are many in the world. This is also part of puja. If we give, we get, but do it from the heart.

When I read about Shri Chandra Bhanu Satpathy's story I wanted to tell about my experience about my Gurudev. In human life, we all go through difficult times one way or other. When I was going through that phase in my life, I went to India. I felt like the whole world was against me and nothing was making me happy. I was like a dead person without any feelings. When things are not going well, we all think about God more. I was so unhappy and even visiting holy places like Shreesailam (a pilgrim center in Andhra Pradesh, India) didn't give me any satisfaction. Then suddenly with my sister's help I went to see my Gurudev, which gave so much peace and happiness. I had so many experiences through my Gurudev, which I can't express with words. He gave me back my strength and faith which I lost somewhere on the track. He is helping so many people like me and willing to help more through his teachings. Please visit his home page on the web, www.dvs4.com.
