Please look out for announcements for similar activities concerning Guru Poornima celebrations this year. Readers and devotees are also requested to suggest other activities that glorify Sai philosophy and our love towards beloved Sainath Maharaj.

However, contributors identifying themselves by giving a very brief introduction at the beginning of their contribution will be very helpful in avoiding any confusion arising due to devotees having same or similar names.
The Question of the week for this week is
"What is the significance of Smt. Radhabhai Deshmukh’s episode is Sri Sai Satcharitha?"
Humbly yours,

Feature of the week:
Sai Dattatreya
Sai devotees who accept Shri Sai Satcharita as their authoritative scripture, accept with equal reverence that Sai Baba is Dattatreya, who is a full incarnation of God and accept him as their Greatest Teacher. They accord the same position and importance to Avadhootagita attributed to Dattatreya as they do to Shri Sai SatCharitra. Indeed both are celestial like Gita since they shower infinite compassion and eternal wisdom on the suffering humanity. The essence of Sai-Datta philosophy is the oneness of the individual soul with universal soul. This is explained briefly as follows:
1. World of Plurality: The world of objects is jugglery akin to a mirage in the desert and the one immutable and auspicious alone is real.
2. The sages declare in many ways that all is God and that one is never the body and, therefore, one has neither birth nor death.
3. That individual who neglects his immortal self which is his real nature like despicable crow is speeding towards hell.
4. Means to attain Mukti: Know form to be unreal and the formless alone to be eternal. By absorbing this re-birth is destroyed.
5. Advice to the mind: O mind, give up finitude. Abandon it. Give us even the notion that :"I have renounced". The pure and immortal principle will destroy, like poison both renunciation and non-renunciation.
6. Facing challenges of life: What I do, what I eat, what oblation I offer, what I give - they do not concern me because I am the ever pure, unborn and immaculate one.
7. Concept of Jeevanmukthi: The state of liberation while still living in this body is alone "Jeevanmukti". If it is a state that is attained after the fall of the body, then even dogs and pigs will attain it.
8. Even now, Dattatreya is blessing and guiding those earnest seekers who accept Him and surrender to Him.

Experiences of Devotees
Varaha Appikatla, Columbus, Ohio,USA.
This is my experience with Sai Bhajan. My first project was over on Jan 7 with IBM. I was in between the assignments, the so-called bench. My self and my wife were in tense always as the situation was not good. Meanwhile one of my friends invited us for Sai Bhajan in his house during the first week of Feb 99. Before that, I completed the one-week parayanam and some how I was not very much happy with the way I did the puja. During next week on Wednesday morning during early hours in my dream, I am standing opposite to a Sai Photo and I heard a voice asking me to read Guru charitra. Luckily the book was available with one of my friends and I completed the Guru Charitra. During the bhajan in my friend's house, I thought of continuing the Bhajan for the next three weeks in my house. By Feb last week we completed the three bhajans in my house and on that Thursday I got offer from two companies and got a project which started on Mar 01. We continued the Bhajans in different houses. Mean while some more Friends of mine were out of projects and when they attended the Bhajan all of them got projects within two weeks. By Sai Ram’s grace, we are continuing the bhajan. I have asked another friend of mine to attend the Bhajan who is out who is out of project for the past 8 months to get Sai Baba’s blessings. Have faith in him and he will take care of everything.

Dear Friends, I would like to share my recent experience, which I strongly believe was due to the timely guidance of Sai Baba. After my graduation last July, I was in a state of confusion about my future job prospects. Due to the tight job market in my area of specialization and my visa status, I found it difficult to get a job. I was keen on taking a risk of activating my temporary work permit even without a job on hand.
At this point, I somehow feel I was forced to take the decision of joining a program in a more lucrative area in a local school. Six months from then, I ended up getting several offers. The final decision of joining the
company was also made on a Thursday, a day so dear to Sai Baba. I strongly feel that at a point when I was vulnerable to taking a decision I strongly feel that at a point when I was vulnerable to taking a decision
which could have been a potential risk, Sai Baba made a decision for me and all I had to do was surrender and follow the path he chalked out for me. Om Sai Ram.

Devotees say...
Jyoti, New Delhi, India
This is in response to the message from Rebecca in Vermont who is troubled by all the violence being inflicted on the Yugoslav people. The theory of ahimsa or non-violence is based on the innate principle of "kshama" or forgiveness. The world is structured in such a way that there has to a certain amount of violence - but the sentiment underlying such violence need not be anger or hatred. For example, in our daily lives we exterminate cockroaches, mosquitoes and other pests. This is necessary, as otherwise they will spread disease. However, we need not do the killing in a vengeful and angry way. You don't have to stomp, jump and crush the enemy. You can feel compassion even if you have to kill. And you can feel sorry.
Both the Indian epics are quite clear about just war. It is right to fight and battle for a just cause. But what constitutes a just cause? And who decides? In the case of World War II there is no doubt that it was a just war and the right side won - as it is bound to. There is also the important point of using excessive force. If the punishment is disproportionately excessive in relation to the crime, then it is a crime in itself. By its very nature violence begets violence. And as violence get fiercer, all moral considerations by and by are tossed out the window. Very few people have the gift of channeling the energy released by anger in a judicious and constructive way. Mahatma Gandhi was one such.
We, the human race, have still a very long way to go in terms of civilization. As long as we need to resort to arms and violence we are uncivilized and in a way, concede our inability to resolve our conflicts in a humane, civilized way. Jai Sai Ram

Sai Ram - Sai Family,
First sincere congratulations to all of us on the successful year of sai vichaar and may sainath bless us all. Many thanks to the editor who made this possible and get us all known as 'Sai Family'. Today's edition has given me a new turn in my life. I used to stay miserable and felt pains in my body and lived a miserable life, but as I read Paritala Gopikrishna verses on 'subconscious' and I guess it is right that the subconscious mind is the builder of the body and can heal us. Thank you very much and I shall try to do as you have mentioned and by SAI NATH's blessings will be able to lead a healthy and happy life. Thanks again.

Prayer Club
Mala, London, UK
SAI RAM TO ALL! MAY SAI SHOWER HIS BLESSING UPON US ALL.
First, I would like to thank that 'Sai Satcharitra' is on the net and even 'Guru- Charitra'. I have read the 'Sai-satcharitra' at work and I feel very much relieved. At present, I am facing many financial problems due to my hubby being unemployed. He went to his interview yesterday and looks forward to be employed by the company, so please devotees, pray for us! Please SAI listen to our prayers and bless us. At times, I feel so frustrated that I feel I am helpless - no where to go - no help at all, but when I read that SAI knows what is best for us - I have left everything in his hands and I believe that HE has to look after us and take care of us. Oh! SAI - please help! I am thrilled to read my experiences in Sai vichaar but just want to clear am thrilled to read my experiences in Sai vichaar but just want to clear that I am Mala from London not from Abu Dhabi. It does not really make a difference but probably Mala from Abu Dhabi might get confused. Sairam.

Dear fellow devotees: There are so many things happening in my life right now and I am so depressed. I feel like I have no one to talk to and when I try to talk to my sister or my husband they ignore me. I have so many things that are bothering me and I keep everything bottled up inside. I'm hurting so much and I have no one to turn to. I can not even sit down and pray for myself because I get so emotional and upset. I end up crying so much that I can not even focus on praying. I feel like I am falling apart and I have no control. Please say a prayer for me to find the strength to take care of myself. I really feel like I can not cope anymore and I feel like I am all alone.
A devotee
Could anybody let me know where I can get a copy of the Guru Charitra in English please. I would like to read it. Is it on the Internet if so where? As for God I have been praying for the past 7 years & have come to a conclusion that people who do not believe in God have achieved their expected targets while I'm still where I am & not only that I think God has made me a laughing stock. For people had warned me that praying will not achieve me anything.
Please help my faith in God is diminishing & I sincerely know that without God I'm nothing.
I definitely need a miracle & I know SaiNath can do this for me spontaneously.
