![]() "Har din har pal chalthaa rehthaa.. sangraam kahin man ke bheethar Mein tera dwaar na dhoond sakhaa Sayii bhatak rahaa hun dagar dagar" It is a struggle within, every day... every minute...
Scriptures and Sadguru stress one important feature of human life. That is, the duty of a human life exists in seeking the very purpose that the life may have and knowing what life is about. It is in this context that humans are considered very fortunate and human life meritorious. Amidst the checkers of the good and the bad, happiness and misery, may lie this quest, dormant. Unsuspectingly beautiful or seemingly painful happenings of one's life may still be quite trivial relative to the quest to seek reasoning for the bigger. Sadguru Sainath said that to know the Brahman, meditation is necessary. By this constant practice, all the thoughts will be pacified, the yearning intensified, and eventually the distinction between the objective of meditation and the meditator lost, meaning the purpose is achieved. Baba also said that He is the inner ruler of all beings and He is the wire-puller of the show of the universe. He added that nothing will harm those who turn their attention towards Him, but Maya will lash or whip those who forget Him. Nectar-like words! When is the right time to contemplate on thoughts such as the above? Does human life have a stage allotted for the thoughts of spiritual nature. If so, when? Shri B. Hanumantha Rao in "Sai Anusaranamu" wrote that fortunate are those who realize the transient nature of mundane happiness at the early stage of their life and dedicate their efforts for self-realization at the feet of Sadguru. How true! No one can claim to control his or her destiny. None may allot a stage of their life, whether now or latter, to realize the purpose life may have. In fact, the thought that one controls their time and the destiny in itself denote a sense of ignorance. Entire life can be spent on small pleasures and dwelling on imaginary fear, both the concoctions of mind. So, when is the time to embark on the endeavor? When is the time to realize that it is not our time that we spend on Sai, but it is His allowance to realize Him in us?
(from Devotees’ Experiences of Sai Baba by H.H. Narasimhaswamiji)
I joined the force (Police force) as an ordinary constable in 1911 and rose to the position of Sub-Inspector in 1930 AD. I met Nagesh Atmaram Samant, who spoke to me about Sai Baba. I told him I would go to Shirdi, but for years I did not. In 1940, both of us were at Nargam Training School. I had then some misfortunes resulting in the loss of my job. I was suspended (from service) on 16-2-1940. I prayed to Baba while under suspension. Udhi and Prasad from Shirdi were wanted and sent to me. Prasad was received but not Udhi - though Sagun Meru Naik sent both. It is after that I received the dismissal order on 28-2-1940. Samant wanted me to go to Shirdi unconditionally. I and my son came to on last Ramanavami here (Shirdi) and prayed to Baba. We spent only two days here. On my return, at Dadar, I met a constable and he said that I was reinstated and posted to Lamington Road. But no such order could have been passed then. On 28-4-49, I appealed. On 14-5-1940 the order was passed and I was "Reinstated and posted to Lamington Road". Baba's decision had come from the constable's mouth two months earlier. I had debts to clear. I prayed to Baba and he sent me some money. I am now free from debt and I am well-provided. I prayed to Baba only for this state of happy freedom.

"Is religion a path or a road block for spiritual progress?" Amit, CA, USA
The author mentions instances (hints) of unrighteousness. To quote a few 1) nobody cares of religious instructions 2) when everyone THINKS himself to be learned 3) begin to partake forbidden food and intoxicating drinks 4) when under the cloak of religion people indulge in malpractice. Saints do appear, as HIS representatives, and serve as beacon lights and show us the right -path and the right way for us to follow, so presently came Shri Sai Baba of Shridi. I personally think that religion (faith, values) complements spiritual progress, but without HIS GRACE it is quite impossible. There is cool incident of a Muslim Haji Sidik Falke, in Chapter XI, Haji being a very learned person in Holy book of Koran, but Baba scolded him by saying "Why do you brag and fancy yourself great and pose yourself as old Haji? Do you read Koran like this? You are proud of your pilgrimage to Mecca, but you do not know me?"., Later Haji was loved and enlisted in Sai's Darbar. Moral: Study of Vedas, Koran can help, but still we need to be humble and remember the nine stools of devotions. Bow to Shree Sai Baba, Peace be to all. John Maynard, USA
Someone asked me, once, what my religion was. I answered that I did not have one but I supposed that if I had to have one it would be Buddhism. Therefore, my own answer would be that religion is a path towards spiritual progress but not spiritual progress itself, as there is no such thing. It is a path because it leads us to a more humble and reverential way of life. is a path because it leads us to a more humble and reverential way of life. It is not spiritual progress itself because we are already That. In no way is it a road block, unless it is the swapping of one fanatical disbelief for another fanatical belief. J. Krishnamoorthy.
