In commemoration of the essence of Shirdi Sai Baba's message of universal brotherhood and the Omnipresence of the Divinity, saibaba.org announces Shirdi Sai Baba Chitra Yatra 2002 commencing from January 1, 2002. It may be recalled that the first international festival of Sai Consciousness 'Sai Utsav' was successfully organized by www.saibaba.org in Chicago, USA in 2000. The Chitra Yatra is being organized to bring peace and to invoke Shirdi Sai Baba's blessings for the benefit of devotees all over the country. He who inspired millions during His life continues to be a beacon of spiritual enlightenment even today and the objective of this event is to spread His message to the ever-growing audience.

Shirdi Sai Baba Chitra Yatra 2002 will involve a ceremonial travel of Sai Baba of Shirdi symbolically represented by a portrait of Sai Baba of Shirdi. The portrait will travel from four sides of the host country, USA, with stops at devotees' homes en route to the City of Chicago, IL. Four paths drawn from Eastern, Western, Southern and Northern states of the US will end in Chicago where there will be an event to mark the end of the Chitra Yatra. The Chitra Yatra is more than a pictorial journey. It is an involvement in a nationwide prayer invoking Baba's blessings to help bring peace to the devotees and to the community at large. Baba is the apostle of infinite love and compassion. He always encouraged harmony amongst various religions and encouraged the people who visited him to continue to pray to their chosen deity. Working like a chain, the journey will stop at various people's homes registered as participants.
